Mumbai: 50 shades of blue

Hello everyone! I literally just arrived in Istanbul, where I'll be staying for a few days, but I still have a lot of photos to post from Mumbai! This is the outfit I wore on my second night in Mumbai for a walk and drinks in the centre of the city. During the day we stuck around the Leela and its beautiful open spaces, filled with Hindu symbols, and at night we went for dinner (Indian of course!) and then stopped by Hard Rock Mumbai to listen to the live band. The weather in India was so pleasant that it feels quite weird reaching for the coat again, but oh well! Hope you're all having a lovely week!

Mumbai: At the Leela

I got to Mumbai on Thursday, after a long, sleepless flight, tired as hell and practically off for the whole day, but so excited to be back to this city! This is the fourth consecutive year I visit India and Mumbai specifically, where I first learnt what Indian food is supposed to taste like. If you follow me on instagram you've already seen some snapshots from the past couple of days that I've been here. These are some photos of beautiful Indian decorations,  that I managed to take from around the hotel, The Leela Kempinski and from my exquisite experience at Jamavar, the Indian restaurant inside. It's practically a never ending summer here, so for my outfit I went SS13 monochromatic, with a Zara white sweater and Topshop side stripe pants that I recently bought in London. More photos coming soon!

Tribal jacket

I arrived in India yesterday and I've been taking a ton of photos to show you guys soon, but for now this is one last outfit post from before I left. I love this oversized tribal jacket (and all things tribal for that matter) and even though it would go perfectly with the simplest pair of jeans, I like leaving my comfort zone behind every once in a while!

If you followed the Suit Wars, you must remember the stunning croco effect messenger I wore with my tartan suit, made by The Code, an up and coming Spanish brand making beautiful handmade, leather bags and purses.

I am excited to tell you that I've teamed up with The Code to give one lucky winner the studded envelope you see in the photos! It's leather and handmade, it comes with a detachable studded cuff and detachable strap so it can be worn as an envelope, clutch or crossbody and it goes with pretty much everything! The giveaway is open internationally and all you need to do is:

Suit Wars Vol. II: Pyjamas

Here it is, Volume II of the Suit Wars! The second contestent is a satin pyjama suit, also from the new collection at Zara, which I have to admit could totally work as an actual pyjama. As a person who highly values comfort I really like the fact that there exists a fashionable and relaxed alternative to the usually uptight eveningwear. I love the white finishings, but mostly the subtle polka dot pattern in the fabric, so I couldn't help but have a little polka dot party there.

When it came to picking out the shoes, though, it wasn't the easiest choice in the world!

Suit Wars Vol. I: Tartan

Welcome to Suit Wars, volume I. This is a two part post, showcasing two beautiful suits I recently bought, starting with this tartan beauty. The reason this is a war is because I only had the intention of buying one, however the choice was beyond difficult to make so I did what every reasonable person does in these situations, I bought both. Maybe you can help me out by telling me which one you like more!

I had never before come around to buying a suit, probably because I thought the occasions I could wear them to were limited to interviews and funerals formal, awkward gatherings. Bumping into the new Zara collection last week I realised how incredibly wrong I had been, ditching them all this time. Suits are so much fun! This one in particular, with the ankle length pants and leather trimmings on the edges of the pockets gives an entirely different meaning to the word tartan, and screams for a little pattern mixing, which is one of my fav things to do! The ensemble is completed by a handmade leather croco effect messenger by The Code, a beautiful pass-partout addition to my bag collection.

Tune in for Suit Wars Vol. II!

The Sunglass Edit

Spring is approaching (here's hoping) and got me thinking I need to renew my sunglass drawer. I surfed and surfed and came up with some of my favourite candidates for this season. Some of them you can say are bold choices, but that's what's fun about them. Which is your favourite?

2. Lanvin round sunglasses
3. Linda Farrow x Jeremy Scott heart shaped sunglasses
4. Prada D-frame acetate sunglasses
6. The Row sunglasses
7. Illesteva Leonard sunglasses

Urban Chic

I was very close to naming this post after Sherlock Holmes. I have this vague impression that he used to wear very similar hats and trench coats and look very knowledgeable and sophisticated as he went about trying to solve mysteries. I bet he'd look cool in a McQueen scarf, too. I was surprised to find out that hats work miracles against the cold, more so than beanies or earmuffs. I guess they're my new favourite accessories in my battle against below zero temperatures.

Free People have launched their first ever short film and it's simply too cool not to share! The title of the film is "Roshambo" and it's about a love story set in Brooklyn, NY, starring Christopher Abbott  of the hit show "Girls" and model Sheila Marquez. The back story is very sweet and the clothes and accessories of course are lovely as always! Enjoy!

The peplum coat

I've said it before, I'm a big fan of coats and an avid collector. I always want my outerwear to complement my outfits, which is strange considering you take it off as soon as you get somewhere. But how often do you see a coat so sweet and feminine that it can't but be the outfit? I got this H&M trend peplum coat about a month ago and I get the feeling it was meant never to be taken off.

SS13 Trend Report

You're not used to seeing such posts from me, but as I was spending some time on Lyst the other day, I thought it would be a  fun challenge to create a spring wishlist and at the same time SS13 trend report, just to put everything that this spring is about together, for present coveting and probable future succumbing. I broke SS13 into 10 categories of trend "teams" and chose a couple representatives from each. Here goes:

1. "Opposites Attract". This season's most "it" colour combination is good old black and white, usually followed by minimalist lines and simplicity all over, as seen at Celine, Alexander Wang and more. Find a short selection below with Roksanda Ilincic one shoulder swimsuit, a perfect minimalist choice for summer and Tibi monochrome dress, so simple and so chic.

2. "60s".  The checkers had a huge presence on the catwalks, with Louis Vuitton being the largest contributor, at a very artistic show. Below, Marni poplin skirt, which I love for the choice of colours and pattern and Marni clutch, so chic and elegant.

3. "Big in Japan": Evident through the shows was the Japanese influence at The Row, Ackermann, Rodarte and more. Can't help but go nuts over the kimono style garments I'm starting to see all over. Two of my favourites, the Lanvin kimono dress, chic but lovely and Tucker floralprint kimono style jumpsuit, which I absolutely adore for being so colourful and having such a beautiful, strict line.

4."Cut-out": I remember in one of my very first posts I pledged eternal love for everything cut-out and I see the fashion world has yet to disappoint me. Cut-out still a trend, as seen at Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Ackermann and more. I can already feel these two being one click away: Givenchy cut-out top, which I would love to wear with hotpants and a statement necklace and Maison Martin Margiela cut-out sneakers, beautiful and chic for the summer.

5."Bold Stripes": This season stripes were first advocated by Marc Jacobs in monochrome, but the rest of the designers soon followed suit. My selection happens to be black and white, but brighter hues have also made their appearance. Feel free to lust over a Balmain striped jacket and pants, I know I do! Both bold and statement pieces!

6. "Metallics": Also not new, but also apparently never dying! Burberry Prorsum had an almost entirely metallics based show, which if you ask me was one of this season's best. It's time to have at a couple more edgy pieces like a Simone Rocha top, chic and perfect with a midi skirt and Aperlai heels, which I love for being so minimal and fashion-forward.

7. "The New Leather": This quickly became an SS13 trend, as seen at Derek Lam, Trussardi, Sportmax, Jason Wu and more and it refers to easy-to-wear, summer leather. Two of my favourite leather items from the spring collections below: Acne leather jacket, an iconic piece for this season in a sweet colour and House of Holland leather bustier dress, the colour combination of which I absolutely adore!

8. "White": In the summer white is always classy and relevant, but now it's also fashionable. Advocated by Roberto Cavalli and Topshop Unique, to name a couple, minimal total white looks were prominent on the catwalks. Two pretty choices below: Chalayan flare dress, so girly and loveable and T by Alexander Wang romper suit, perfect for a summer night with colourful accessories.

9. "Lego Colours": Popping colours in monochrome flooded some of the catwalks too, namely Erdem and Versus. A Versace yellow dress, a statement party dress, perfect for the summer and a Herve Leger orange swimsuit, which would undoubtedly make you look like the hottest girl on the beach!

 10. "The Fendi": OK this isn't really a thing, but I fell so deeply in love with the footwear at Fendi, I couldn't refrain from including such a work of art on the list. Fendi lizard print and leather sandals, something between Versailles and tetris. I can't even begin to explain this but I haven't been so intrigued by a pair of shoes before!
